    I got to work with the yard birds for a few months before she was commissioned Aug 5th 1972. Our first deployment was P.I. Than off the Vietnam coast, down to Sidney Australia, Guam and back home. I was discharged in July 75. She was a great ship and I truly enjoyed my shipmates and the Bristol County LST -1198
